POINT LOMA FALLS TO NO. 6 LEWIS

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – In their second match of the Cougar Classic the Sea Lions faced a tough test in the sixth-ranked Lewis Flyers. Point Loma was able to gain an early lead on the Flyers in the first set but Lewis fought their way back to take the first set, 25-23. Errors mounted for the Sea Lions in the second set and they were unable to find a rhythm falling 25-13 in the second set. The third set was competitive once again, but the Flyers played spectacular defense and were able to come away with the sweep.

Cara Keturakis led the Sea Lions with a double-double, notching 23 assists and 10 digs. Jaime Cymbaluk led the team once again swinging for eight kills. Both Celeste Friesen and Courtney Dyer saw time at libero in this match, coming away with 17 and 12 digs, respectively.

Scott's Thoughts:
On Lewis: "Lewis was outstanding at defense; I just wish we would have competed."

On Cymbaluk and Keturakis' solid starts: "Jaime is doing many nice things and we hop it becomes the new norm. They both had pretty good days, but this is a team sport and we didn't put it together from start to finish."

On the defense: "I'm not happy with our defense; we have not competed hard enough. I'm excited to see them tomorrow with some urgency to get a win."
