HONOLULU - A tough road trip ended for Point Loma with a four-set loss at Chaminade on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Madie Fox continued her impressive junior season with a 15-kill, four-block performance but it was not enough to hold back Chaminade, who came into the match focused after taking their first PacWest-loss of the season the night before against Azusa Pacific.
The Silverswords opened the first set on a 5-0 spurt and closed it out with a 9-2 run to jump out to the 1-0 lead. After falling 25-13 in set two, Point Loma answered back with a 25-14 win in the third set. The Sea Lions began the set on a 6-1 run and never looked back. Chaminade closed it to 15-12 but scored 10 of the last 12 points to win the set 25-14. The fourth was back-and-forth throughout. The set was tied at 20-20, and then CUH finished off the match with a 5-0 run.
Emma Teckleburg led Chaminade with 21 kills, and Annah Rivera added 11 kills with a .308 hitting percentage.

Words from coach Jonathan Scott
On the Chaminade: "They believe in themselves and they play very aggressively."
On why the Hawaii road trip is so tough: "It is really tough to get out of a vacation mindset, and as a coach I have to figure out a better way to keep us focused on the task at hand."
More on the trip: "We have to be prepared for the next match and we were not prepared for Hawaii Hilo coming out here. That put us in a tailspin very quickly."
On Madie Fox: "Madie is proving herself to one of the best players in the conference, regardless of position. She is a captain and a leader for us. I hope her attitude and work ethic can rub off on others."
On the upcoming homestand: "We have to focus on the next upcoming matchup and get better every day in practice."
