SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma women's soccer team carried its offensive momentum from the weekend into its match with Chaminade and scored four goals to defeat the Silverswords, 4-0, on Monday, Oct. 28.
The Sea Lions controlled the match from the opening kickoff and never looked back. They got multiple looks on crosses early but could not put one away until the 30th minute when
Rachel Carrell knocked in one from
Hailey Clifford after a pass from
Chloe Kim. Six minutes later,
Makenna Herrero extended the lead to 2-0 after
Raynee Odell passed out to her after a corner kick went long. The score remained 2-0 into halftime.
In the second half,
Julia Glaser scored a goal from 22 yards out that slipped under the crossbar and right over the goalkeeper's outstretched hand for her eighth goal of the season.
Fernanda Osorio tacked on the Sea Lions' fourth goal of the match in the 78th minute after
Anna-Lena Stein made a perfect pass to get Osorio open in the 18-yard box.
PLNU posted its second straight shutout as
Emma Hinson, and
Kirsten Kircher combined on the clean sheet. Hinson had two saves, and Kircher made one.

Words from Coach Kiely
On opening homestand with a win: "It will be the same message from me all week; one game at a time. Playing four matches in nine days is tough to do, and I give credit to all the players that stepped on the field and kept it going."
On spreading out the scoring: "Obviously there is a lot of focus on Julia (by the other teams), so the nice part about that is it has the potential to free up other players to be involved. When we move the ball better, it allows others to get on the stat sheet, and then they can't just mark Julia with one, two or three players."
On completing the clean sheet: "Emma continues to communicate, organize, and verbally control the backline. Lauren and Courtney have also been very steady back there."
