PLNU goes to 3-0 to set up a first-place showdown with Biola on Saturday

SAN DIEGO –
The Point Loma women's basketball team extended their win streak to six games as they defeated Hawaii Hilo, 78-46, on Thursday, Dec. 12.
 
Sophomore Haylee Saurette came off the bench to lead the Sea Lions with 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Senior Onjalise Carley-Hilliard added 18 points as she also went 6-of-8 from the field. Kylie Hearn racked up seven assists in just 18 minutes of play as Point Loma posted assists on 21 of its 26 baskets.
 
Point Loma came out the gates strong ending the first quarter with a 19-4 lead, and it never trailed in this ballgame, but the seven-player Hilo squad made it tough. PLNU was up just 31-20 at the half after the Vulcans outscored them by four in the second quarter. The Sea Lions would add to their lead in the third, before putting the game away in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Vulcans 27-11.

PacWest Implications
Point Loma improves to 3-0 and moves into a tie with Biola atop the PacWest standings. The two teams will meet in Golden Gym this Saturday with first place in the standings on the line.
