BELMONT, Calif. – No. 9 Point Loma got back on the winning track with a 73-39 victory over Notre Dame de Namur on Thursday, Feb. 7.
Kaden Anderson led the Sea Lions with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Daulton Hommes chipped in with 16 and eight rebounds.
Preston Beverly posted his fourth double-double in his last five games. He scored 14 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out five assists and had two steals. No Argonaut reached double-figures.
The game began a little slow for PLNU. The Sea Lions scored just 28 points in the first half and led by only seven at the break. In the second half, Point Loma seized control of the game with a 25-5 run to open the period. NDNU would never get the lead back below 25.
The Sea Lions domination came in part to their work on the glass and the defensive end. PLNU nearly doubled-up NDNU on the rebounds, 49-25, and held them to just .300 percent shooting. This allowed Point Loma to outscore the Argonauts 21-0 in second-chance points.

PacWest Implications
The win moves PLNU to 15-1 in conference play. The victory coupled with Concordia's loss tonight at Holy Names extended the Sea Lions' lead atop the PacWest back to 2.5 games.
Words from coach Looney
On NDNU: "NDNU did a really good job defensively early in the game, and that got us out of rhythm."
On the Sea Lions' defense: "Overall I was very happy with our performance defensively. We did a really good job playing hard on that end of the floor. We contested their shots and blocked out well. We held them to 18 second-half points and outrebounded them by 24."
On PLNU outscoring NDNU 21-0 on second-chance points: "We were very disappointed with our effort (on the rebounds) against Concordia last week. We spent a lot of time trying to reestablish our identity on the glass in practice this week, and I thought our team did a very good job of that tonight."
On Anderson's night: "NDNU was trying to pack (the defense in) by playing off our bigs on the perimeter. Anderson can shoot the '3' so teams can't guard him the same way. He allowed us to stretch the floor."
On upcoming game against Holy Names: "We need to understand that we are back in a good position with a 2.5 game lead, but we are only going to be able to maintain that if we prepare ourselves the right way for a good Holy Names team that has been very hot since after Christmas."
