SAN DIEGO - The No. 17 ranked Point Loma baseball team returned to conference play on Friday with a doubleheader against Biola. PLNU won the opener 6-4 but lost the late game, 6-1.

Game 1
Micah Pries went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs to help lead his team to the 6-4 victory. Pries opened the game with a triple, driving in
Brett O'Toole, and later sent a solo shot over the wall in right-center to give the Sea Lions a security run in the seventh.

The Sea Lions were the first to put runs on the board with two scored in the bottom of the first inning. The Eagles answered back with a run of their own in the top of the second inning to cut the Sea Lion lead to one. Biola put together a solid run between the fifth and sixth innings, plating three runs in the innings and taking the 4-2 lead.

Point Loma took no time to answer as they were able to plate three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead. The Sea Lions were able to play small ball with back-to-back singles followed by a double from
Colby Kaneshiro to drive in two runs before
Michael Palos earned an RBI on a fielder's choice play.

Zack Noll earned his fifth win of the season, going six innings giving up six hits and three earned runs. Noll fanned five batters while only walking two, but the Eagles were able to run up his pitch count as he threw 101 pitches in just six innings. Steven Elliot came in as the set-up man and went 1.2 innings before coach James brought in Nick Cornelius to close out the game.

Game 2
After a solid win in game one of the doubleheader, the Sea Lions struggled to find their offense in the second game, managing only four hits. The Eagles scored early, putting a run on the board in the first inning, but closed out the game with five runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

John Balliet drove in the lone Point Loma run in the fourth inning, driving in
Micah Pries with a sacrifice fly to center. The Sea Lions threatened once again in the fifth inning, but they left the bases loaded with the score remaining tied at 1-1. Biola was able to break the tie in the seventh inning with a solo home run but found their stride in the eighth inning putting four more runs on the board.

Jerry Quemada put together a solid starting effort for Point Loma going six innings with one earned run and five hits. He was able to strike out four batters while only walking two. The bullpen struggled for the Sea Lions, giving up five of the six runs and seven additional hits.
