SAN DIEGO – Point Loma hosted the Vulcans of Hawaii Hilo on Friday afternoon, taking the match 4-0. The teams played to clinch and the Sea Lions came out ready to go as they earned two quick doubles wins and went on the seal the match with three straight singles wins.
Taylor McGowan and
Nicole Camaratta got things going for Point Loma with a quick 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Michelle Torres and
Shelby Groeneveld were not far behind as they took their match at No. 2 doubles 6-1 as well.
Gabi Armas and
Ellie Gamble had a tough test at No. 1 doubles going to a tiebreak where they fell 6-7(3-7), but the Sea Lions came away with the important doubles point.
Gamble didn't let the doubles loss affect her as she came out with the first win in singles play, 6-1, 6-4, to give PLNU a 2-0 lead.
Nicole Camaratta got back to her winning ways with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court six and she moves to 9-3 on the season in singles play. Groeneveld was able to clinch the match for the Sea Lions with a 6-2, 6-1 victory on court one.
