Thoughts from coach Wheeler
On Dafcik's career: "Thomas' two-year career at Point Loma has been nothing short of excellent. His senior year was even more impressive than his junior season. His ability to lead our team from the top singles spot, and count on that win from the No. 1 singles spot, is not a thing that most teams have the privilege of saying."
Â
On Scott Wheeler's one season at PLNU: "Scott added a lot to our team this year. He had a solid singles record and was good in doubles play, but leadership and mindset made him standout. Â He enjoyed the competition, the moment and the grind that comes with a college tennis season. He added a lto to our team in all these areas, and a lot of guys were able to see that. This season has also been difficult for him, playing under his older brother, but I thought he did an incredible job of handling that pressure, and still being himself."
Â
On why he enjoyed coaching this team: "While we didn't have as strong of a season as we did last year, I enjoyed it just as much. There were a good variety of personalities and characters that I thought fit very well together. Having Thomas and Scott as our seniors and our leaders was huge. They were able to help the young guys and pass along standards of how to act. I also loved the energy and excitement from the younger guys that were excited to be playing tennis at the college level. There was a great balance and diversity that really made this team special."
