SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma women's basketball team outscored Biola by 17 points in the fourth quarter to come from behind and defeat the Eagles, 72-64, on Friday, Jan. 29.

After a pair of free throws put Biola in front 57-46 early in the final period, the Sea Lions mounted a comeback to turn an 11-point deficit into an eight-point win. PLNU shot .500 percent in the fourth quarter while holding Biola to .250 percent shooting and forcing the Eagles into five turnovers.

Ellie Turk forced two of those turnovers as she had two impressive steals in the backcourt. The first brought the Sea Lions within two (62-60) as she picked the pocket of Stephanie Lee and converted the layup. PLNU got another stop on the defensive end before
Haylee Saurette knocked down a 3-pointer from the corner to give Point Loma its first lead since early in the third quarter (63-62).

The Sea Lions did not stop there as they added to their lead by scoring the next nine points. Saurette hit another 3-pointer and
Cara Liggins scored five points with a layup and three free throws.
Ellie Turk also knocked down a free throw after making another steal and throwing it off an Eagles' student-athlete on an inbound pass with less than a minute remaining to seal the game.

Ellie Turk finished the game with four steals and 11 points off the bench. Fellow freshman
Madison Williams had 13 points, including nine in the first half.
Cara Liggins paced the Sea Lions with 16 points and
Madison Corder pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

While PLNU did not shoot above .333 percent in any quarter before the fourth. It was able to hang in the game by going 21-of-30 from the free throw line (Biola 13-of-25). The Sea Lions also created 16 more shots for themselves by forcing the Eagles into 19 turnovers and outrebounding them 17-6 on the offensive glass.

The win moves PLNU into a three-way tie atop of the standings in PacWest SoCal Pod. The loss drops Biola to 0-3 in conference play.

Turning Point
During a 16-0 run in the fourth quarter that stretched from 4:50 until the final second of the game, Point Loma went 5-of-7 from the field and held the Eagles without a basket (0-for-5) and they missed four free throws.
