QUIEROZ DELIVERS GOLDEN GOAL IN GOLDEN HOUR

SAN DIEGO---In the golden hour, Luca Quieroz netted the golden goal to give the Point Loma Sea Lions (11-4-2 overall, 8-2-1 PacWest) and keep their postseason hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over the Concordia Eagles (7-7-2 overall, 5-3-1 PacWest) Thursday afternoon on the PLNU Soccer Field.

The goal, and the win, keep Point Loma's chance for a post-season bid alive, albeit with some help.

Just 15 minutes in, the Sea Lions found their breakthrough when Teague Anderson delivered the ball in front of the box for Austin Lavell to hammer into the net, putting Point Loma in the lead at 1-0.

Concordia would eventually pull even, 45 minutes later, as the Eagles found their way into the box and used a couple of opportunities in front of the net to finally tie the match at one.

The teams remained deadlocked as the physical match presented opportunities for both sides in the second half, pressing both keepers into action. Concordia's keeper made a string of good saves, keeping the game even into overtime.

Eight minutes into the extra frame, the Sea Lions built a counter attack with Teague Anderson getting behind the defense. Anderson dropped the ball off to the left side of the box for Luca Queiroz to blast the shot past the keeper, ending the match and keeping Point Loma's postseason hopes alive.

The game was wildly even, if not frantic. The teams combined for 33 shots, with Concordia holding the edge by 1. Fouls were almost even, with Point Loma accumulating slightly more.

But Concordia held the edge on corners, drawing 11.

Still, Point Loma's defense held up with Seth Ketterer tallying five saves to keep the game going.

Point Loma will now wait for the selection show on Monday (3:30pm PT on NCAA.com) to learn their post-season fate.
