CLUTCH FOURTH QUARTER KEYS SEA LIONS ON THE ROAD

CARSON, Calif---A big fourth quarter, behind a big second half from Haylee Saurette pushed the Point Loma Sea Lions (3-1 overall) past the Cal State Dominguez Hills (0-4 overall) 76-69 Thursday night at the Torodome.

Saurette poured in 13 of her game high 18 points in the second half as Point Loma stifled Dominguez Hills, surrendering just 11 points in the final quarter.

Once Point Loma gained control of the ballgame, it was Alix Henderson and Ellie Turk who helped salt the game away at the free-throw line.

"It came down to rebounding and getting stops down the stretch." Point Loma Head Coach Charity Elliott said. "I thought Ellie's defense made the difference tonight."

Point Loma jumped in front on a 9-0 run in the second quarter before clinging to a 38-37 lead at the half.

Dominguez Hills erased the difference and took a 58-56 lead at the end of the third quarter.

But Point Loma grinded out the fourth quarter, holding the Toros to just 3-13 from the field.

"I'm really proud of how we shared the ball and we how we had multiple people step up in key moment." Elliott said.

Point Loma, meanwhile, shot 50% from the field in the final period, forcing turnover and scoring in transition to close out their first road win in as many tries.

Saurette and Liggins each had multiple field goals for the Sea Lions in the quarter.

"Haylee was clutch." Elliott added. "She hit some big shots down the stretch."

The Sea Lions will return home next week to host the Sea Lions Thanksgiving Classic, beginning with a matchup against Northwest Nazarene Friday at 1:00pm in Golden Gymnasium.
