Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

12-GAME WINNING STREAK SNAPPED

LA MIRADA, Calif. - The Point Loma men's basketball team suffered its first loss in over a calendar year when it fell at Biola 69-62.

The shots were just not falling for the Sea Lions who shot .365 percent from the field and just 7-of-33 from 3-point range. Biola grabbed the early lead with a 7-0 run out of the gate and Point Loma could never catch up. PLNU did fight back to cut it to five (61-56) on a Brock Mackenzie jumper with 3:58 remaining, but it could not get any closer as the Eagles continued to play good defense and went 6-of-8 from the free throw line down the stretch.

Kaden Anderson posted 15 points, nine rebounds, and game-high five assists in the loss. Mackenzie also had 15 points but he could not find his long-range shot, going just 1-of-8 from behind the arc. Myles Franklin added 14 points and four assists. Griffin Barker came off the bench to post nine points. Jesse Elrod's 17 points led four Eagles in double-figures.

Team Records
#9 Point Loma (5-1, 4-1 PacWest), Biola (6-2, 6-1 PacWest)

PacWest Implications
The victory for Biola gives them sole possession of first place in the PacWest with a two-game advantage in the win column.

Turning Point
Point Loma was able to cut Biola's early 7-0 lead back to 7-6, but the Eagles answered by scoring 17 of the next 20 points to go in front 24-9. PLNU would not get the deficit back to single-digits until the second half. Even after the Sea Lions cut it to five (61-56) with four minutes to go, Biola answered with an 8-1 run down the stretch to clinch the game.

Words from coach Matt Logie
On Biola's performance: "Give Biola credit offensively, they did a better job executing their offensive system than we did our defensive game plan."

On the Sea Lions' shooting: "We missed a ton of wide open shots. When that inevitably happens you have to trust your defense and execute which we did not do at a high enough level."
