IRVINE, Calif. – No. 8 ranked Point Loma men's soccer took to the road in a hard fought contest against Concordia. A
Teague Anderson goal in the 82nd minute proved to be the difference.
Seth Ketterer recorded nine saves and the first solo shutout of his collegiate career.
The goal came in the 82nd minute when
Teague Anderson received a pass from
Lucas Purgato off a free kick just beyond midfield. Purgato booted the ball to the middle of the box where it found the head of streaking Anderson who beat the keeper to the top left corner of the goal.
The Sea Lions would not get another but continued to play solid defense and make the Eagles uncomfortable with the ball. Concordia would have one last chance at the end when Nick Aquino took a shot, but
Seth Ketterer would have no intentions of letting the game go to overtime and recorded his ninth save of the game.
The Sea Lion defense played outstanding posting its third clean sheet of the season and two in as many games. PLNU also extended its shutout streak to 246 minutes.
Point Loma men's soccer will wrap up its abbreviated spring season a perfect 5-0 overall and 4-0 in PacWest play
Team records
Point Loma (5-0-0, 4-0-0 PacWest), Concordia (1-2-0, 1-2-0 PacWest)
Words from Wolf
Thoughts on the game: "This game couldn't have been more
opposite from the first time we played them. They were all over us like we were all over them the first game. It was a tough, hard-fought game, and we found a way to win which is all you can ask for."
Thoughts on Ketterer's performance: "Usually when you give up nine shots on goal you will concede three or four goals, that's what I believe anyway, but he had an incredible performance, some of his saves weren't too difficult, but still great job by him."
How the team grew over the abbreviated season: "Our pod is no joke, it was tough, but I think it helped everyone. It gave closure to some guys ending their career, it gave meaning to the guys coming back. Mostly we were thankful to play, I want to thank Ethan for making this happen, I'm just glad we were able to play."
