SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Point Loma men's tennis team won the consolation bracket at the PacWest Championships with their 4-3 win over Biola today, April 24. With the win, the Sea Lions finish in fifth place.

The Sea Lions got down early after dropping the doubles point. The Eagles took the doubles point after getting wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.

Alejandro Castaneda and Lukas Schuster were trailing in their matchup when the doubles point was clinched.

Although Biola took the doubles point, that did not affect PLNU in singles play. Tyler Davis tied the match up after dominating his opponent winning in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-1. Biola retook the lead with a win in the No. 3 position.

Down 2-1 PLNU fought back to tie it up after Jasdeep Paintal won his match, PLNU would then take the lead with a Lukas Schuster match victory. Up 3-2 PLNU needed one more victory in singles play to clinch the match.

The back and forth continued as Biola tied up the match with a win in the No. 4 position. That did not phase PLNU. After falling in the first set Yuki Okamoto won the next two to win the match for the Sea Lions.

The win helped PLNU finish in fifth place at the PacWest Championships.
