SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Point Loma women's tennis team concluded the 2021 season with a 4-1 victory over the Academy of Art today (April 24).

Point Loma got the best of the Academy of Art in doubles play. Rachel Whittington and Thelma Sepulveda gave the Sea Lions an early advantage with a 6-2 win in the No. 3 position. Art U came back with a win in the No. 1 position. PLNU would prevail as Samantha Neilson and Faith Pearson captured the doubled point with a 6-2 match victory in the No. 2 position.

Headed to singles play PLNU had all the momentum. Rachel Whittington picked up the second point for the Sea Lions with a straight-set victory over her opponent. Art U cut into the lead with a win in the No. 4 position, but that is all they could muster against Point Loma.

Thelma Sepulveda and Gabi Armas picked up wins in the No. 2 and No. 6 positions to seal the victory for Point Loma.

This match concluded both the PacWest Championships and the season for the Sea Lions. PLNU finished in seventh place at the PacWest Championships.
