SAN DIEGO - Torina Hommes recorded a new career-high 21 kills and the Point Loma volleyball team outlasted Academy of Art in five sets to earn its fifth straight victory.
 
Hommes had only five hitting errors as she hit .364 for the evening. The Sea Lions also received 13 kills from Alexis Soncrant and 11 from Claire Smith, all without an error. Lauren Phillips dished out 46 assists and Courtney Dyer posted 35 digs. Anna Massari led all student-athletes with seven blocks as PLNU dominated the Urban Knights at the net 9-3.
 
The Sea Lions did not commit a hitting error in the first set to jump out to the early lead. In the second set, Academy of Art made some plays late to come back from 20-19 down to win 25-23. The Urban Knights carried that momentum through the third set to take a 2-1 lead.
 
The Sea Lions responded in the fourth set by hammering down 13 kills with a .375 hitting percentage and just one error to win 25-17 and force the decisive fifth set. With the match on the line, PLNU put together its best set of the evening. Point Loma hit .474 in the shortened set with 11 kills and just two errors. Hommes and Soncrant each posted four kills in the set.
