PLNU PASSES FIRST ROAD TEST IN PACWEST PLAY

(LA MIRADA, Calif.) PLNU Men's Basketball wasn't phased by an early double-digit deficit, coming back to defeat Biola on the road, 87-79, on Wednesday night.

"Tonight was a very well-played basketball game by both teams," Head Coach Matt Logie said. "Biola came out strong and shot very well early, but I liked how poised our guys stayed and our bench did a great job bringing us back."

Also helping Point Loma complete the comeback was a 15-for-33 mark from 3-point range, with six Sea Lions hitting multiple triples.

"Our guys did a very nice job offensively of playing together and sharing the ball, which led to great shooting," Logie said.

Biola raced out to an early 16-5 lead with 13:41 on the clock, but PLNU outscored BU 33-18 the rest of the opening period to take a four-point advantage into the half.

Shamrock Campbell's 3-pointer early in the second half quickly extended Point Loma's lead to 10, before the hosts worked their way back to within four.

Wes Slajchert's triple at the halfway point of the second period put PLNU back up by double digits, but the Eagles fought back to within four once again.

Kaden Anderson then took over from there, hitting a pair of jumpers as part of a 7-0 Sea Lion run. He then made a defender fall on his stepback 3-pointer with 3:41 to play, all but sealing the victory for Point Loma.

A perfect night from the free throw line (16-for-16) then ensured the Sea Lions won their first road PacWest game on the conference schedule.

"We know we will always get our opponent's best shot, especially on the road, so it was good to get our first road win of conference play," Logie said.

Campbell led PLNU with 20 points, while Brian Goracke (seven rebounds) was close behind with his 19 points. Anderson (15 points) and Luke Haupt (10 points) joined them in double figures.

Point Loma (7-3 overall, 3-0 PacWest) is set to have another road test on Saturday at Azusa Pacific, who was picked first in the PacWest Preseason Poll, just a single point ahead of the Sea Lions.

Tip-off between the lone 3-0 PacWest teams is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
