FRESNO, Calif.-Needing every point they could muster,
Thelma Sepulveda won the deciding set and earned the 4-3 victory for the Point Loma Sea Lions (4-1 overall) over the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (2-2 overall) Saturday afternoon at the Haak Tennis Complex.
Samantha Neilson and
Angelique Friedrich handled the first doubles pairing 6-1 with
Faith Pearson and
Arianna Audelo sealing the team point with a 6-3 win.
Amanda Letzring made quick work of the first singles matchup, putting Point Loma up 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
But momentum quickly swung to Fresno as the Sea Lions lost the next three singles matches on courts 6, 1 and 2. But Sami Neilson won in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 setting up a crucial matchup on court 3.
After dropping the first set, Sepulveda edged out set two 7-5 and finished the match 6-2 to earn Point Loma's fourth straight victory.
Point Loma will be on the road for two more matches, traveling to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday, February 18
th for a 1:00pm match. They wrap up the road trip the next day at the University of Redlands at Noon.
