SAN DIEGO- Securing the doubles point was not enough for the Point Loma Sea Lions (0-1 overall) to secure their first win of the season as they fell 6-1 to the San Francisco Dons (1-2 overall) Friday afternoon on the PLNU Tennis Courts.
The pairing of
Lukas Schuster and
Nabeel Khan secured a 6-2, evening doubles at one a piece, before
Alexander Leischuer and
Elias Weeks grabbed their match 6-4 to give Point Loma the 1-0 lead.
But Point Loma struggled to sustain momentum in singles action but it wasn't without opportunities.
Tyler Davis won the first set on Court 1, but dropped set two 6-1 and dropped the final two games of set three, dropping the match 6-4.
Schuster came back after losing the first set to force the 10-point tie breaker but fell 10-6 in the final set.
And in the last match of the evening,
Jasdeep Paintal took the first set 6-3 and fell 7-3 in the tie-break of set two, before ultimately dropping set three 6-2.
Point Loma won't have to wait long to bounce back as they return to action Saturday afternoon against San Diego Christian at 2:00pm on the PLNU Tennis Courts.
