AZUSA, Calif.-Despite a match victory from the pairing of
Alexander Leischner and
Alejandro Castaneda, the Point Loma Sea Lions (8-10 overall) fell 7-0 to the Azusa Pacific Cougars (14-4 overall) Saturday afternoon at the Munson & Bavougian Tennis Complex.
Leischner and Castaneda took their match 7-5 on court 3, tying doubles at 1-1 with court 1 into a tiebreaker at 6-6.
Tyler Davis and
Nabeel Khan went back and forth in an attempt to secure the doubles point, but ultimately fell 7-5 in the tiebreaker as Azusa Pacific took the 1-0 lead.
APU continued their roll taking the first set of every singles match, with Castaneda forcing a tiebreak on Court No. 5.
But ultimately APU took advantage of being at home taking each singles match in straight sets, handing PLNU a 7-0 loss.
Point Loma will look to rebound on Tuesday when it hosts Concordia at the PLNU Tennis Courts at 2:00 pm. The Sea Lions will hold Senior Day on Saturday against Biola.
