Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Tim Heiduk, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications

PLNU CAN'T FIND NET DESPITE SHOT ADVANTAGE IN ROAD DEFEAT

(CARSON, Calif.) PLNU Men's Soccer outshot Cal State Dominguez Hills by a 10-shot margin, while controlling 58% of possession, but was unable to find the back of the net in a 2-0 road defeat in Carson on Saturday.

The Sea Lions started brightly, with Austin Lavell hitting the top of the woodwork just 30 seconds into the match. Samuel Tuscano and Corey Lundeen then forced saves from the CSUDH goalkeeper in the first half, but the game remained scoreless going into the break.

After taking six shots in the first half, PLNU doubled that tally in the second half with 12, but it was the home team that broke the deadlock in the 48th minute with a goal.

Milo Libby and Townsend Meyer had efforts blocked in the second half before the Toros added an insurance goal in the 84th minute.

That second goal made the final minutes less nervy for the home side, who conceded a penalty kick with just under three minutes to play. However, the Sea Lions' spot kick was saved, preventing PLNU from scoring its first goal of the young season.

Point Loma (0-3 overall) returns to the field on Saturday at Cal State San Marcos. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
