(HONOLULU) PLNU Women's Basketball overcame a five-point quarter in Tuesday's win over Hawaii Hilo, but a three-point first quarter against Hawaii Pacific proved too tall of a mountain to climb for the Sea Lions, as the Sharks prevailed by a 70-41 margin on Thursday night.

HPU scored the first 12 points of the game and led 24-3 after the first quarter before extending that lead to 28 at the half, with the hosts shooting 57.7% in the opening 20 minutes.

PLNU won the third period, 16-15, helped by a 9-for-11 clip from the free-throw line. Point Loma then held Hawaii Pacific to 11 points and 23% shooting in the fourth, as the Sea Lions' defense improved in each successive quarter.

Eiley Tippins was close behind with her six points.
