Box Score (LA MIRADA, Calif.) PLNU Men's Soccer appeared headed for another three points in PacWest play, leading Biola 3-0 on the road.
But the host Eagles fought back with four second-half goals to stun the Sea Lions, 4-3.
Elijah Langford and
Juan Salazar scored goals in the first half, with
Zachary Mercieca adding a third early in the second half for Point Loma, before Biola scored in the 54th, 70th, 71st and 90th minutes to complete the comeback.
Langford's fifth-minute goal gave the visitors a perfect start, finishing off a sequence that began with
Oliver Padilla winning the ball back in the midfield.
Gael Ruiz then sprayed it out wide to
Juan Salazar, who pushed forward on the dribble and slipped a ball through to Langford to slot past the goalkeeper who came off his line.
Langford then turned provider, returning the favor to Salazar in the 12th minute.
Austin Lavell intercepted an interior pass in a dangerous position and fed Langford, who curled in a cross on the ground to Salazar to finish at the back post.
Mercieca then tripled PLNU's advantage in the 52nd minute after a heads-up play from Langford.
The Edmond, Oklahoma native drew a foul around the midfield line and caught the Eagles' defense napping with a quick free kick, sending
Marlon Buck through. Instead of shooting it himself, Buck selflessly squared it for Mercieca to pass into an open net.
Biola then began its comeback just over two minutes later before tacking on a second in the 70th minute just before the second-half water break.
The momentary break in the action didn't slow the Eagles' momentum, as the hosts equalized at the 70:11 mark.
Langford and Padilla forced saves as the Sea Lions pushed to regain their advantage, while Lavell had a goal ruled out for offside with six minutes to play.
However, it was Biola who found the game-winner with just a minute remaining to cap off a stunning comeback.
Point Loma (6-4 overall, 2-1 PacWest) next travels to Hawaii for three games beginning on Oct. 16 at Chaminade.
