(LOS ANGELES) PLNU Men's Soccer is back in the dance.
For the first time since 2017, Point Loma will compete in the NCAA Super Regionals after being announced as the No. 10 seed in Super Region 4.
The Sea Lions will take on seventh-seeded Simon Fraser (B.C.) in Los Angeles on Thursday at 6 p.m. for the right to play host and No. 2 seed Cal State LA on Saturday.
Point Loma (12-4-1 overall, 8-1-1 PacWest) is coming off a first-ever PacWest championship in program history and is making its second appearance in the NCAA postseason. The Sea Lions finished the season on a seven-game unbeaten streak.
Simon Fraser (11-4-2 overall, 8-2-1 GNAC) won the GNAC title on Saturday with a 5-1 win over Northwest Nazarene to earn the conference's automatic berth into the regional.
PLNU is 0-1 all-time against SFU, with that lone matchup happening on Sep. 20, 1995.
Perennial powerhouse Cal State LA (16-1-2 overall, 10-1 CCAA), the 2021 DII national champions, won both the CCAA regular season and tournament titles this season. The Golden Eagles defeated the Sea Lions in Los Angeles on Sep. 16, 3-1.
