PLNU WINS AFTER PAULSEN'S LATE TRIPLE FORCES OT

(NAMPA, Idaho) Zack Paulsen hit a game-tying 3-pointer with three seconds remaining in regulation to send PLNU Men's Basketball to overtime against Central Washington on Friday night before the Sea Lions prevailed, 79-75.

"I'm incredibly proud of the 'no flinch' mindset we displayed," Head Coach Justin Downer said. "Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and while that may be true in needing some magic, no one deserved that shot more than Zack. His toughness and work ethic are unmatched."

Paulsen paced Point Loma with a Sea Lions career high of 25 points, leading PLNU with four of the team's 10 points in overtime.

Wynton Brown also set a Sea Lions career high with 23 points, while Jake Lifgren added 13.

Point Loma held a 35-29 advantage at halftime and led by as many as 10 in the second half after Brown's layup.

CWU then battled back to lead by five with 40 seconds remaining. Brown made a pair at the free throw line to make it a one-possession game before PLNU forced a turnover to get the ball back and have Paulsen force overtime.

Brown then scored the first points of the extra period, as the Sea Lions maintained their lead throughout overtime.

Two of PLNU's three wins this season have now come in OT.

Point Loma (3-2 overall) returns to the court on Saturday at 6 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. MT against NNU Thanksgiving Classic host Northwest Nazarene.
