(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Basketball opened up PacWest play with a dominant 82-54 victory over Concordia on Saturday afternoon inside Golden Gym.
The Sea Lions scored 20-plus points in each of the first three quarters, as the hosts never trailed in the game.
A 10-0 run in the first period, capped by a
Tavia Rowell fastbreak layup off an
Alyssa Munn steal, helped Point Loma take a double-digit advantage.
PLNU developed that lead up to 18 at the half, as
Katie Scott beat the buzzer with a straightaway 3-pointer.
The Sea Lions then scored the final nine points of the third, with
Grace Moawad sinking a jumper with just a couple seconds remaining in the period to put the home side up by 31.
An
Eiley Tippins layup and another Moawad jumper extended that lead to a game-high 33 in the fourth before PLNU won by a final margin of 28.
The Sea Lions held significant advantages in bench points (47-13), points in the paint (52-32) and points off turnovers (25-10).
Rowell scored a team-high 17 points on an efficient 8-for-10 from the field, while
Annika Thayer (11 points) and Scott (10 points in just seven minutes) joined her in double figures.
Munn nearly did so as well, pitching in nine points and six assists, while Moawad added eight points.
Point Loma (5-4 overall), winners of three straight, returns to PacWest action on Saturday at Westmont. Tip-off in Santa Barbara is scheduled for 2 p.m.
