(AZUSA, Calif.) No. 20 PLNU Women's Tennis had its hopes for a first road win of the season spoiled by No. 15 Azusa Pacific, with the Cougars taking down the Sea Lions 6-1 on Friday.
Â
"It was a tough match against APU today for the women," Head Coach
Curt Wheeler said. "They competed well, but didn't win enough of the big points."
Â
Angelique Friedrich and
Joelle Lanz teamed up to win their No. 3 doubles matchup, 6-2, but the Cougars won the other two doubles contests to capture the doubles point.
Â
Friedrich then claimed her No. 3 singles match, coming back from a first set loss to win the final two sets 6-2, 6-3.
Â
But APU had already clinched the match at that point, winning the first five singles matches to finish.
Â
Amanda Letzring was the next-closest Sea Lion to win in singles, dropping a competitive match at No. 4, 4-6, 5-7.

Point Loma (2-3 overall) has a quick turnaround before hosting Redlands on Saturday at 11 a.m.
