(SAN DIEGO) For the second time ever, the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball West Regional is coming to Golden Gym.
 
Point Loma (27-3 overall), the PacWest regular season and conference tournament champions, was awarded the No. 1 seed in the West Region and earned the right to host the eight-team tournament, scheduled for March 10-13.


 
PLNU will take on eighth-seeded Northwest Nazarene (15-14 overall) on Friday at 5 p.m. in the regional quarterfinal.
 
The Sea Lions and Nighthawks squared off in Point Loma's home opener back on Nov. 15, with PLNU coming away with a 69-54 victory.
 
NNU is coming off a GNAC Tournament title run as the No. 6 seed, in which the Nighthawks defeated two teams who will also be taking part in the West Regional this coming week.
 
Friday's winner between Point Loma and Northwest Nazarene will play against either fourth-seeded Saint Martin's and fifth-seeded Academy of Art in the second semifinal on Saturday.
 
The opposite side of the bracket features CCAA regular season and tournament champion Cal State San Bernardino, the second seed, and third-seeded Azusa Pacific, who finished second in both the PacWest regular season and tournament.

The two semifinal winners will then play in the regional championship on Monday, March 13 at 7 p.m.

Point Loma last hosted the NCAA West Regional in 2019, when the Sea Lions won the regional title before finishing as national runner-up.
 
Tickets for this year's regional will go live on Wednesday evening.
