CHRISTIAN SETS PLNU RECORD FOR SINGLE-SEASON HOMERS

(SAN DIEGO) Point Loma has a new single-season home run king.

With a two-run shot in the bottom of the third inning of Friday's first game against Holy Names, Jakob Christian hit his 21st home run of the season, breaking a tie with Tyler Flores (2018).

But the PLNU first baseman was from done.

With the first game tied 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth, Christian hit his second walk-off home run in as many weekends, this time a three-run shot to give PLNU Baseball an 8-5 victory.

The win completed a comeback victory for the Sea Lions, who led 4-3 going into the ninth after solo home runs from Hunter Otjen and Jack Malone earlier in the game.

The visiting Hawks then scored twice in the top of the ninth to take a one-run advantage, only for Scott Anderson's RBI-single to tie the game before Christian played hero once again.

Christian's 22 home runs are tied for the most in all of NCAA Division II.

HNU exacted revenge in the second game of the doubleheader, shutting out PLNU in a 3-0 win while holding Point Loma to just two hits in the seven-inning game.

Point Loma (26-12 overall, 14-8 PacWest) and Holy Names will play another doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at noon, on Military Appreciation Day at Carroll B. Land Stadium.
