(SAN DIEGO) No. 13 PLNU Volleyball continued its perfect start to the season with a sweep (25-19, 25-23, 25-23) of Hawai'i Hilo on Wednesday night inside Golden Gym, setting up a Battle of the Unbeatens against No. 7 Chaminade on Friday.
Â
The win ensures that both Point Loma (22-0 overall, 16-0 PacWest) and Chaminade (24-4, 17-0) will be undefeated heading into Friday night's showdown with first place in the conference standings on the line.
Â
On Wednesday, the Sea Lions passed their final test before that long-awaited matchup, taking care of the Vulcans with their 16th sweep of the season.
Â
PLNU won the first set after winning the final four points of the stanza, with the last two coming off a
Genevieve Hara service ace and kill.
Â
Point Loma developed sizable advantages in both the second (20-9) and third (18-10) sets before thwarting a Hilo comeback bid both times with gritty defense.
Â
Four Sea Lions reached double digits in kills –
Makenna Joyce (12),
Sophia Baugh (11),
