(SAN DIEGO) The NCAA Division II Women's Soccer West Regional is coming back to The Point.
Â
For the second straight season, Point Loma will host the NCAA postseason, this time as the second seed in the West Region.
Â
The Sea Lions will take on seventh-seeded Simon Fraser in the first round on Thursday at 1 p.m.
Â
Â
No. 3 seed Hawai'i Hilo and No. 6 seed Concordia will play on the PLNU Soccer Field before that, kicking off at 10 a.m.
Â
The winner of those two first round games will then advance to play in the second round on Saturday at 1 p.m., also on the PLNU Soccer Field.
Â
Point Loma (15-2-1 overall) won a fifth PacWest Conference regular season championship in six seasons before claiming the first ever PacWest Tournament title in double overtime, winning 3-2 over Hawai'i Hilo (13-2-3), the second-place team out of the PacWest.
Â
Simon Fraser (14-3-3) earned the GNAC's automatic bid into the regional after winning the conference tournament for the second straight season.
Â
Hilo and Concordia (13-2-2) both earned at-large berths into the tournament out of the PacWest, which placed four teams in the seven-team NCAA West Regional.
Â
Â
The top seed in the region, Cal Poly Pomona, receives a first-round bye and will play the winner between No. 4 Azusa Pacific and No. 5 Western Washington in the second round.
Â
The highest seed remaining in the West Region will then host the regional championship on Nov. 30.
