PAULSEN'S CAREER NIGHT LEADS SEA LIONS IN HOME OPENER

(SAN DIEGO) Tyce Paulsen scored a career high 30 points while making a personal best eight 3-pointers to lead No. 16 PLNU Men's Basketball to an 81-64 victory over Cal State San Marcos in the team's home opener on Tuesday night.

Paulsen made a pair of triples in the early going, as the Sea Lions jumped out to a 15-3 lead less than four minutes into the game.

The Cougars got back to within two, but Andrew Hommes' putback dunk fired up the home crowd as Point Loma went back up by double digits going into the half.

Paulsen, who shot 9-for-11 overall and 8-10 from 3-point range, kept firing away in the second half with five triples after play resumed.

A pair of and-ones from Wynton Brown extended PLNU's advantage to as many as 23, before Paulsen put the finishing touches on his career night with triples on three consecutive possessions.

He was then fouled shooting another from beyond the arc and promptly sank all three foul shots to reach 30 points with 1:09 to play.

Brown (10 points) joined Paulsen in double figures, with Luke Haupt (9 points), Coby Barnes (8 points) and Zackry Paulsen (8 points) close behind.

Point Loma (5-1 overall) hits the road again to play at No. 12 Saint Martin's (7-0 overall) in Lacey, Washington on Saturday at 7 p.m. in what will be PLNU's fourth game already this season against a ranked opponent.
