Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Tim Heiduk, Associate Athletic Director for Communications

WILDCATS HAND SEA LIONS FIRST HOME LOSS OF SEASON

(SAN DIEGO) Four Sea Lions scored in double figures but it wasn't enough as No. 12 PLNU Men's Basketball suffered its first home loss of the season at the hands of Central Washington, 68-69, on Saturday.

Point Loma outscored CWU in points in the paint, points off turnovers, fast break points and bench points, but was ultimately undone by the Wildcats' 22-7 advantage in second chance points.

The Sea Lions went on a 12-0 run in the first half, started by Andrew Hommes' triple and capped off by a Zackry Paulsen layup, to go up by a dozen.

However, the visitors responded immediately with a 13-0 run themselves to retake a one-point lead, which they took into the halftime locker rooms.

Central Washington extended its lead to as many as nine in the second half, before Paulsen's 3-pointer made it a one-possession game with 14 seconds remaining.

The Wildcats then made one free throw with four seconds left, which was just enough to make another Paulsen triple in the final second a mere consolation basket.

Paulsen led all players with 20 points, followed by Coby Barnes' 12, Luke Haupt's 11 and Wynton Brown's 10. Brown brought down a game-high 11 boards as well.

Point Loma (7-2 overall) is now finished with its non-conference schedule and will begin its PacWest slate with a trip to the Bay Area, beginning on Thursday at Dominican (7:30 p.m.) and on Saturday at Academy of Art (3:30 p.m.).
