(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Basketball led from start to finish, rolling to an 87-47 exhibition victory over Westcliff on Friday night inside Golden Gym.
Point Loma ended the first quarter on a 7-0 run, as
Tavia Rowell's 3-pointer put PLNU up by double digits.
The Sea Lions carried that momentum into the second quarter, outscoring the Warriors 21-2 in the period to take a 42-11 halftime lead.
PLNU continued its offensive onslaught in the second half, scoring 22 points in the third quarter and another 23 in the fourth, while Point Loma limited its opposition below 50 points once again.
Ten different Sea Lions scored, led by a double-double from
Eiley Tippins (25 points, 12 rebounds) and 14 points from
Maddie Mersch.
Kaylee Byon dished out eight of the team's 24 assists.
Point Loma dominated in the paint, outscoring Westcliff 52-24, including 28-4 in the first half.
PLNU was nearly perfect from the free throw line, shooting 16-for-17 from the charity stripe.
Point Loma (9-3 overall) returns to the court on Jan. 2 when the Sea Lions host Fresno Pacific. Tip-off in Golden Gym is scheduled for 2 p.m.
