(SAN FRANCISCO) PLNU Women's Basketball finished the regular season with a 61-54 win at Academy of Art on Saturday, clinching the No. 3 seed in the upcoming PacWest Tournament.
Tavia Rowell led all scorers with 19 points, while
Hannah Golan joined her in double figures with 15 points.
All 10 Sea Lions who played scored in the game, as Point Loma held a 17-8 advantage in bench points.
PLNU also outrebounded ART U, 36-25, and outscored the hosts 8-0 in fastbreak points.
A 3-point play from Rowell and a free throw from
Katie Scott gave the Sea Lions a 10-point lead in the first quarter, only for the Urban Knights to end the period on an 11-0 run in the final two minutes to take an 18-17 lead after one.
However, the Sea Lions won the second, third and fourth quarters to finish the regular season winning nine of its final 11 games.
Point Loma (17-11 overall, 13-7 PacWest) entered the day in a tie-for-third place in the conference standings with Dominican, but PLNU's win combined with DUC's loss to Biola ensures the Sea Lions' best conference finish since 2016-17 (second place).
As the third seed, Point Loma will take on sixth-seeded Biola on Thursday in the PacWest Tournament First Round at 5:00 p.m. inside Golden Gym. The two teams also met in last year's PacWest First Round, with PLNU winning in overtime, 67-61.
