SEA LIONS BEAT TOROS TO CONCLUDE NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

(CARSON, Calif.) PLNU Men's Soccer closed out its non-conference schedule with an impressive 2-1 road victory at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday night.

"After a disappointing Colorado trip results wise, this was a fantastic bounce-back win," Head Coach Phil Wolf said. "CSUDH is an excellent team and to take full points on the road is an amazing accomplishment. "

Felix Calero assisted both Point Loma goals, beginning with Simon Sagal's in the 17th minute.

The Sea Lions caught the Toros out on a counter attack, with Calero getting behind the opposing defense and squaring a ball to Sagal to beat the keeper at the near post.

PLNU then held its 1-0 lead until the 81st minute when the hosts equalized, only for Point Loma to respond within two minutes through Elijah Langford.

Following a counter-press in the midfield, Calero won his duel and crossed to Langford, who finished with a volley to score for the second-straight game.

Freshman goalkeeper Jeremy Caringella made six saves in goal, three in each half, to earn his first collegiate victory on his PLNU debut.

Point Loma (2-1-2 overall) opens PacWest Conference play on Wednesday at Menlo. Kickoff in Atherton is scheduled for 4 p.m.

"Now it is time to take a deep breath after a grueling opening two weeks against some top opponents and refocus for the most important part of the season, our league games," Wolf said.
