(SAN DIEGO) Coming off a strong comeback victory the day before, PLNU Volleyball continued its momentum on Saturday with a dominant three-set sweep of Cal State San Marcos (25-16, 25-20, 25-21) to finish the San Diego Invite a perfect 3-0.

How It Happened
Though San Marcos scored struck first in the first set, the Sea Lions came roaring back, scoring six unanswered a short while later to take a four-point lead early in the set. Though San Marcos attempted to claw its way back into the match, the Sea Lions came right back with another definitive eight-point unanswered run to put themselves out of reach and secure the first set.

Saren Rogers started both rallies for the Sea Lions in a set that saw Nua collect six kills.

The second set was a more tightly-contested one, with both teams exchanging blows until the very end. No team had a lead greater than two until the Sea Lions outscored San Marcos 5-1 over the final six points to secure the set and move to 2-0 in the match.

The final set was much like the first, with San Marcos jumping out to a 2-0 lead before the Sea Lions scored five unanswered to regain the advantage. Though San Marcos was able to claw its way back into the lead, a late surge by the Sea Lions propelled them to a third set victory, completing the sweep.

Anna Massari was at the center of things, recording three aces and three kills during the set, while
Genevieve Hara also tacked on five kills.

Top Performers
Nua and Hara led the Sea Lions offense with 14 and 11 kills respectively, while
Sophia Baugh kept the ball in the hands of the big hitters with 29 assists. On defense,
Makenna Joyce had 17 digs while Massari and
Sophia Baugh each had a solo block.

What Happens Next
The Sea Lions hit the court next Thursday in Nampa, Idaho at the NNU Tournament, where they'll take on the Colorado School of Mines at 3:30 p.m. PT / 4:30 p.m. MT.
