(COSTA MESA, Calif.) No. 13 PLNU Men's Basketball dominated Vanguard on Thursday night, 86-55, to win its seventh straight game and strengthen its lead atop the PacWest standings.
 
The Sea Lions did not allow Vanguard to lead the entire game, leading by as many as 11 points in the first half following a 9-0 PLNU scoring run.
 
Point Loma pushed the pace near the end of the first half, scoring eight fast break points to lead the Lions by eight at the horn.
 
Senior guard Coby Barnes led the team in scoring at the break with 13 points, shooting 3-for-3 from downtown, on his way to a team-high 18 points for the game.
 
The Sea Lions rattled off another long scoring run in the second half, this time 13-0, to extend its advantage to 32 points near the end of the game.
 
Point Loma locked up the perimeter, only allowing one made 3-pointer in each half and forcing Vanguard into shooting just 11% from behind the arc.

Five players ended the game in double figures, led by Barnes. Junior forward Andrew Hommes totaled 14 points off the bench while Luke Haupt, Zackry Paulsen and Wynton Brown had 12 points respectively.
 
PLNU was able to hold Vanguard to only two assists in the game.
 
Point Loma (17-4 overall, 10-1 PacWest) heads back to Golden Gym on Saturday to take on Hawai'i Hilo at 4 p.m.
