(WAIPAHU, Oahu) PLNU Women's Soccer closed out its trip to Hawai'i with three points and three goals scored in a 3-0 victory at HPU on Saturday evening.
Natalie Clouse and
Alyssa Ketcham scored in the first half before
Priya Torres rounded out the scoring to continue Point Loma's unbeaten start to PacWest play.
Clouse opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a clinical header at the front post off
Grace Nelson's chipped, free-kick service from the side of the box.
PLNU doubled its advantage exactly seven minutes later, when Nelson's longball forward was flicked on by an HPU defender into the path of Ketcham, who ran in behind the defense and showed tremendous composure to slot past the goalkeeper.
The Sea Lions took 13 shots in a dominant first half display and could have easily been up by more than two goals at the break if not for a couple timely blocks from the Sharks' defense on shots that seemed destined for the back of the net.
Torres then left no doubt about the result with a first-time finish from six yards out off
Kylie Garcia's pinpoint left-footed cross.
Point Loma (6-2-4 overall, 3-0-3 PacWest) returns home to host first-placed Azusa Pacific (9-2-3, 6-1) in conference play on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
