PLNU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CRUISES IN HOME OPENER

(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Basketball never trailed in its home opener on Wednesday, cruising past Cal State Dominguez Hills by a score of 73-48 on Military Appreciation Night inside Golden Gym.
 
Point Loma held CSUDH to just 27.0% shooting in the game, including 13.3% in the opening quarter, as the Sea Lions led from the 7:46 mark in the first on.
 
Ruby Vlahov (9 points, 8 rebounds) converted a 3-point play in the second quarter to put the hosts up by double digits for the first time, as PLNU outscored CSUDH by 14 in the second to take a 37-16 advantage into the locker room.
 
Izzy Navarro (12 points, 5 rebounds) got Point Loma out in transition with her five steals, feeding Vlahov up ahead to make it a 30-point game in the second half.
   
Cassidy Bartolotto (11 points), who was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, then drained her second 3-pointer of the night to give PLNU its largest lead of the game (33 points) with 4:03 left in the third.
   
Point Loma led by no fewer than 22 the rest of the way, as PLNU showed out in front of an energetic Golden Gym crowd.
 
Hannah Golan (20 points, 11 rebounds) was in attack mode all night long, scoring a career-high in points as the Sea Lions doubled up the Toros in points in the paint, 48-24.
   
Maddie Mersch (11 points) also scored in double figures, with PLNU shooting an efficient 53.7% from the field.
 
Point Loma (1-0 overall) now travels to Lacey, Washington to play at Saint Martin's on Saturday at 4 p.m.
