(SAN DIEGO) Third-seeded PLNU Men's Soccer will host fourth-seeded Midwestern State in the national quarterfinals on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Point Loma advanced to the final eight after a 2-1 win over 10th-seeded UCCS in the Sweet 16 on Saturday.
The Sea Lions will play one final game on the PLNU Soccer Field this season after Midwestern State upset No. 1 seed Stanislaus State, 2-0, on Sunday.
Saturday's quarterfinal matchup will be the third-straight NCAA postseason match hosted by PLNU.
MSU won both the Lone Star Conference regular season and tournament titles, while PLNU claimed both the PacWest regular season and tournament championships.
While Point Loma is making its first ever NCAA Division II quarterfinal appearance, Midwestern State will play in the national quarterfinals for the eighth time.
MSU, who is playing in the NCAA postseason for the 12th straight season, previously beat fifth-seeded Seattle Pacific in the Second Round on Nov. 22 by a 1-0 margin in double overtime.
Point Loma (16-3-2 overall) and Midwestern State (16-3-3) have never played each other. PLNU is ranked No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll, while MSU is ranked No. 8.
The winner will represent Super Region 4 in the national semifinals in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Dec. 12.
