(SIOUX Falls, S.D.) PLNU Women's Volleyball set itself apart this season.
Whether it's the best postseason run in program history, leading a Bible study and worship night with the other participating teams at the NCAA Championships, or everything in between, the 2025 Point Loma squad set itself apart from any other in so many ways.
PLNU's magical season came to an unfortunate end on Friday night with a four-set loss to No. 2 seed Concordia-St. Paul (23-25, 20-25, 25-21, 16-25) in the national semifinals, but what the team accomplished this season will continue on into history.
The first two sets could've gone either way, but with No. 3 seed Point Loma trailing 2-0, the Sea Lions showcased the resilience they have all season to force a fourth set against the nine-time NCAA Division II national champions.
Middle blocker
Jill Leslie tallied three kills in a four-point stretch before
Abigail Nua recorded three kills of her own to close out the third and extend PLNU's season.
In a battle of National Players of the Year between Nua and CSP's Makenna Nold, Nua showcased exactly why she'll go down as the greatest Sea Lion in program history with a heroic performance of 21 kills on a .321 hitting %, despite being less than 100% after missing over a month with injury.
After Nua gave PLNU a 9-8 lead in the fourth, a 7-0 run from the Golden Bears changed the complexion of the set.
The Sea Lions kept battling, showing life with a late 3-0 scoring stretch, but ultimately Concordia-St. Paul came away with the four-set victory to end Point Loma's historic season.
Hailey Clark (10 kills) joined Nua with double-digit kills while
Saren Rogers had nine and Leslie added eight.
Sophia Baugh posted a double-double of 40 assists and 15 digs.
Macy Reynolds led the defense with 21 digs, while
Kyra Miles had a team-high four total blocks, followed by three apiece from Nua and Leslie.
Point Loma's best postseason run in program history includes a first ever NCAA semifinal appearance after PLNU won the West Regional championship for the first time. The Sea Lions also claimed a second PacWest Conference title in three seasons.
