(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.)
Zackry Paulsen scored a season-high 33 points, but No. 7 PLNU Men's Basketball fell in overtime 99-89 to Westmont on Saturday in Santa Barbara.
Â
Despite the loss, which ended Point Loma's 10-game winning streak, the Sea Lions remain in first place atop the PacWest standings.
Â
Paulsen, who played every minute of the game, sank a pair of clutch free throws with just two seconds left in regulation to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Â
However, Westmont outscored Point Loma 25-15 in the extra period.
Â
Coby Barnes (17 points) and
Jaden Matingou (12 points) joined Paulsen in double figures.
Â
Matingou led PLNU's second unit, which outscored Westmont's 21-6. The Sea Lions also held a 24-12 advantage in fast break points.
Â
Point Loma (20-5 overall, 13-2 PacWest) returns to the court on Saturday, when PLNU hosts Concordia during Homecoming Weekend on campus. Tip-off in Golden Gym is scheduled for 8 p.m.
Â
The Sea Lions will look to avenge a loss to the Golden Eagles earlier this season on Dec. 14.
