PLNU TIES PROGRAM RECORD FOR MOST REGULAR SEASON WINS

(SAN DIEGO) No. 8 PLNU Men's Basketball tied its program record for most regular season wins, defeating Westmont 64-48 on Saturday in Golden Gym for its 25th victory.

Point Loma's 25 regular season wins matches the 2022-23 team that won both the PacWest regular season and tournament titles before reaching the West Regional championship game.

Prior to its regular season finale, PLNU honored seven seniors on Senior Day – Mason Shifflett, Nick Watkins, Wynton Brown, Pierce Davis, Zackry Paulsen, Luke Haupt and Coby Barnes.

Seniors scored the first 15 PLNU points of the game, as the Sea Lions jumped out to an immediate 13-0 lead.

Point Loma then limited Westmont to just 18 points in the first half, its fewest points allowed in any half since holding Fresno Pacific to just 16 points in the first half on Jan. 28, 2023.

The Warriors got no closer than 12 in the second half, as the Sea Lions cruised to their fifth straight win to close out the regular season, avenging a road loss to Westmont on Feb. 8.

Haupt scored 20 points or more for the second consecutive game, while Paulsen joined him in double figures with 13 points. Andrew Hommes scored nine points, while Barnes added eight.

Point Loma (25-5 overall, 18-2 PacWest) now turns its attention to the postseason, with the Sea Lions earning the No. 1 seed in the PacWest Tournament (March 6-8).

PLNU receives a first-round bye straight into Friday's conference semifinals at 5 p.m.
