PLNU'S HISTORIC SEASON ENDS WITH REGIONAL LOSS TO CWU

(CARSON, Calif.) Third-seeded PLNU Women's Basketball outscored sixth-seeded Central Washington in the second half but was unable to overcome its halftime deficit in a 53-74 loss that ended Point Loma's historic season.

The Wildcats limited the Sea Lions to 12 first-half points, but PLNU responded in the second half with an impressive 41-point output.

After being held to 4-for-24 shooting in the first half, Point Loma made 18 field goals in the second half, including 10 in the fourth quarter on 55.6% shooting.

The Sea Lions outscored the Wildcats by double digits in the final period, but it was too late to muster a comeback.

Four players scored eight-or-more points, led by Eiley Tippins' 12. Kaylee Byon added nine points and five assists, while Alli McDonald nearly recorded a double-double with eight points and 12 rebounds.

Tavia Rowell also scored eight points, with Hannah Golan pitching in with seven off the bench.

Point Loma finishes the season with an NCAA-era program best record of 25-6 overall, qualifying for the NCAA West Regional for the second straight year and earning its highest ever seed in the NCAA postseason.

PLNU won its first ever PacWest regular season and tournament titles this year, as the Sea Lions improved their win total from the previous campaign for the fourth successive season under Head Coach Charity Elliott.
