(HONOLULU) No. 13 PLNU Baseball nearly forced extra innings in game one of Saturday's doubleheader at Hawai'i Pacific before the Sharks took both games by scores of 12-11 and 11-3.
Â
Josiah Rodriguez homered twice in game one, while
Noah Meffert left the yard in the top of the third to give Point Loma an early 5-2 lead.
Â
However, HPU scored seven unanswered runs to go up by four. Then trailing by that amount going into the ninth inning, Meffert's two-RBI double and a run-scoring double from
Chris Larkin tied the game up, only for the hosts to walk it off in the bottom half.
Â
Rodriguez, Meffert and
Jake Entrekin all had three hits in the game, with Meffert leading the way with five RBIs.
Â
Then in game two, HPU scored the first 11 runs of the game before PLNU got on the board with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh, including a home run from
Jack Ryan.
Â
Point Loma (24-12 overall, 20-10 PacWest) plays at Hawai'i Pacific again on Monday with a doubleheader set to begin at 5 p.m. PT.
