(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) A historic season for PLNU Women's Tennis came to an end on Thursday morning in the NCAA quarterfinals, as No. 8 seed Point Loma fell to No. 1 overall seed Barry by a 4-0 margin.

The Sea Lions gave the top-seeded Buccaneers, who finished as national runner-up last season after winning the previous six national championships, a competitive match that was closer than the final score indicated.

After Barry won the doubles point,
Arianna Audelo and
Quin Brady both won singles sets, while
Antonia Barth and
Anna Pallencaoe held leads at various points in their matches.

Audelo won her first set at No. 1, 6-4, and was tied 4-4 in the second set against the No. 5 singles player in NCAA Division II when the Buccaneers clinched the team victory.

Brady also won a singles set, dominating 6-0 in her second set at No. 3 before eventually falling in three sets to the No. 22 singles player in the nation.

Pallencaoe held 3-2 leads in both sets of her No. 5 singles match that was left unfinished.

Barth led 5-4 in the second set at No. 2 against the 15th ranked singles player in Division II when Barry clinched the match.

Point Loma finishes the year with a 20-5 overall record, setting an NCAA-era program record for wins.

PLNU's historic season included several program firsts, including a first ever PacWest Championship and NCAA Championships appearance, as well as first ever victories in the NCAA West Regional and at the NCAA Championships.
