(SEATTLE) No. 9 PLNU Women's Soccer outshot Seattle Pacific, 14-8, only for SPU to spoil the Sea Lions' season opener by a 1-0 scoreline.

The Falcons scored a first half goal in the 22nd minute that proved to be the difference, as the hosts got some revenge for Point Loma's victory over Seattle Pacific in the 2023 West Regional championship game on PLNU's way to winning the national championship.

Emma Majors forced a save in either half, while
Nikki Ross,
Tatum McCasland and
Kylie Garcia also required goalkeeper interventions.

SPU, receiving votes in the preseason national rankings, made five saves in total to keep PLNU at bay.

The defeat is PLNU's first loss in a season opener since 2019, as the Sea Lions opened their season out of state for the first time since 2008.

Point Loma (0-1 overall) flies back to San Diego on Friday before hosting Cal State San Marcos on Saturday at 1 p.m. on the PLNU Soccer Field in the team's home opener.
