(COSTA MESA, Calif.) PLNU Men's Basketball had its perfect start to 2026 spoiled on Saturday, as Vanguard defeated Point Loma by a 76-67 margin.

The Sea Lions had won their first six games of the new year before VU picked up its first win against PLNU since joining NCAA Division II and its first since Nov. 29, 2011.

After Point Loma shot a combined 50% from 3-point range in wins last week against Biola and Azusa Pacific, PLNU made just 5-of-24 (20.8%) attempts from behind the arc, with Vanguard making four more triples on four fewer attempts.

After the hosts led by eight going into the locker room, VU led by no fewer than five for the entirety of the second half, keeping it a multiple possession game the rest of the way.

Andrew Nagy led PLNU with 17 points and eight rebounds, while
Andrew Hommes had 16 points and six boards.
James Nobles joined them in double figures with 11 points.

Point Loma (14-4 overall, 9-3 PacWest) plays next against first-placed Chaminade (10-6, 8-2) at home Thursday. Tip-off in Golden Gym is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
