(LA MIRADA, Calif.) PLNU Women's Soccer beat Biola, 2-0, on the road on Saturday evening to continue its unbeaten start to PacWest play and hand the Eagles their first conference loss of the season.
Maddy Saruwatari opened the scoring in the 15th minute after dicing up her defender on the dribble.
Priya Torres played the ball to Saruwatari, who did the rest by beating her defender in the box to the byline before cutting back inside onto her favored right foot and slotting past the opposing goalkeeper at the near post.
After leading 1-0 at the half, Saruwatari returned the favor by assisting on Torres' 50th minute goal that doubled the Sea Lions' advantage.
Those two strikes were more than enough for a stellar Sea Lions' defense, which shut out Biola for the second time this season.
PLNU put up double-digit shots in each half, outshooting the Eagles 23-17, including 7-4 in shots on goal.
Point Loma (7-2-5 overall, 4-0-2 PacWest), unbeaten in eight straight games overall, returns home to host Vanguard on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
